Born in South London, music has always been Jem's passion. He started playing the guitar when he was 8 years old and recorded his first track which he uploaded to YouTube when he was 13. He gained recognition when the band Alt-J tweeted a link to Jem's cover of their song 'Tesselate', which earned him a loyal following on YouTube, with over 50,000 subscribers. Thanks to his internet success, Jem was picked up by Rich Records with which he is releasing his first EP album 'Oceans', named after the first track on the album which charted on the UK top 40.
